Hollywood – You Are Really Pissing Me Off

Has Hollywood run out of ideas? I simply cannot believe the creativity wells have gone completely dry. Hollywood is preparing to roll out yet another remake… This time it’s a personal favorite.
Conan the Barbarian (2011) has been filmed and is now in post-production. Jason Momoa (Who?) is the new Conan. Are you kidding me? No one can ever fill the shoes of Arnold Schwarzenegger; NO ONE!.!.!
Why oh why did they have to mess with this movie? The Conan movies were and possibly still are my favorite movies of all time. I have probably seen Conan the Barbarian twenty times. I remember going to see it in the theater… I own the VHS and DVD.
Sure the visual effects will be great, but did this epic story really need to be shined up and retold; I think not.
While were on the subject, how about the A-Team and worse yet the Karate Kid… Seriously; WTF?
Sad, Angry and disappointed… Sully is not happy!

I’m just as big of a fan. When Barbarian came out, I wrote a letter that my family sent to Hollywood. Rafael De Laurentis actually wrote me back and packaged the letter along with a whole bunch of posters (including the one you have above). Best of all were two studio B&W photographs with character descriptions typed in German on the back…one of Arnold and the other of his Amazon chick (as seen above).
In the letter, De Laurentis told me he was sorry I could not see his R rated movie (parents went to see it and decided they wouldn’t let me), but that a PG-13 movie would be coming out soon. Two years later they rolled out with Red Sonja which was PG-13. I was one happy kid.
That’s awesome. I can’t believe he did that. It is such a great story.
