Adobe – You Suck! DreamWeaver CS4 Crash Issue (Daylight Savings Time)

Has your Adobe DreamWeaver application begun crashing on startup? Mine started last Thursday. I finally had a few minutes to figure it out today. It’s the good old Daylight Savings Time bug from CS3 that is causing the crash! Yep, a year has passed and Adobe even released CS4 without fixing this annoying bug!

Problem: Computers are very sensitive to time issues. Remember that Y2K thing…

Solution: Delete your Application Support directory for Adobe DreamWeaver. See the path below; replace your username where it states “yourusername”. Launch Adobe Dreamweaver and start working!

/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4

Yes- The folder will be automatically re-created.

    Thanks a million for posting this. Just had the same problem in the UK a few hours *before* clocks switched to British Summer Time! You saved me from fruitlessly going through the whole reinstall process.

    mmm… nope. still crashing. any ideas? i also dumped the prefs for DW (and said folder above, again) after the first attempt as per your instructions.

    i’ll keep looking but grrrr…. i gots some workies to do.

    Tried that too. I also still have crashes. I have an intel mac running 10.5.8. Using CS4. Every time I try to manage sites, the beach ball spins forever. Also, can’t just quit Dreamweaver. Always have to force quit.

    Sounds like you have a corruption in your profiles. You can try to completely remove CS4 (I would use AppZapper).

    Run a full FSCK on your system and or use DiskWarrior if you have a copy.

    Re-install Adobe and see if that fixes your problem.

    You should look over your error logs first to see exactly what is causing the crash.

    Hey, I seem to be having this same problem with Dreamweaver MX 2004. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know it’s a dinosaur, but it’s all I have. TIA Michele

    @Michele,

    Is there a Dreamweaver folder in the /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ directory? If so, you could try removing it. I would really suggest an upgrade ;)

    Thanks loads :o ))) By the way this fix also works for CS5, maybe one day they will fix the problem.
