Dr. Visit #8 (Fill #2)

The scale never lies! I am actually up a few pounds from my last visit. From what I have read and seen with others this is expected from time to time. I am really not that bothered by it. I know I have been testing the band since I got my first fill.

I recieved an additional 2cc’s this fill, bringing my total to 6cc’s. Hopefully I will begin to feel the restriction and see some serious progress. I know the band is a tool. I know I also need to use it to my advantage and get back on the plan. It’s those damn margaritas…

Now for the funny part! The doctor numbed the area as he did last visit. He filled the needle and injected into my port; all was well.

After he withdrew the needle my wife (who was also in the room) gasped and her eyes tripled in size… I felt the doctor push on my stomach and then pull something (along with a few belly hairs) with great effort.

“What the hell man” was my verbal response as I looked directly at my wife who was completely stunned. The needle suffered a “needle failure” where the needle actually separated from the syringe. Mind you this is a large needle…

Luckily there was enough of the needle protruding from my stomach for the doctor to grasp and pull out. He seemed very calm during and after the “failure”. He never said a word that would have alerted me to the problem. My wife said he was talking to me normally with a look on his face that told a completely different story.

Only me… hopefully that won’t happen again- Ever!
